About Dots & Boxes
Dots and Boxes is a classic pencil-and-paper game that people have played in notebooks for more than a hundred years. The board is a grid of dots. Players take turns drawing a single line between two neighbouring dots, across or down.
Whoever draws the fourth side of a box claims that box and must take another turn straight away. When every line has been drawn, the player with the most boxes wins. Here you play against the computer on a 4×4 grid of 16 boxes. It’s a surprisingly sneaky game of planning ahead.
How to play
- Press Play. You go first.
- Tap between any two neighbouring dots to draw a line.
- Complete the fourth side of a box to claim it. You then take another turn.
- When all lines are drawn, whoever owns more boxes wins the match.
